Stale-moves are moves that have been repeated. Each time a move connects, its damage and knockback are decreased on an exponential curve. To avoid this side effect, it is important to vary your move choice. A move will be restored to its maximum power after roughly a dozen other attacks.

Characters with projectiles and good jabs will often use them generously to restore move power.
