[edit] Item Effect
The Ray Gun is a projectile item that shoots laser blasts at your opponents. The Ray Gun has appeared in all the Smash Bros. games, and is a quick shooting weapon. The Ray Gun holds up to 16 blasts of lasers. Once the gun is empty, it can be thrown at the opponent as a weapon, and has great impact. On some characters, you will be able to lock that character in continuous fire until they are knocked off the stage.
[edit] Strategy
The Ray Gun can be treated much like Falco's Blaster technique as it has a very similar speed at which it moves. It's very possible to keep characters in the air with the inability to react should you time your shots right. This is most effective in Super Smash Bros. where the mid-air dodge technique had yet to be implemented in any form. Keep in mind however that the Ray Gun is very weak when compared to other items and should only be used if you can time the shots right to carry an opponent out of recovery range within the 16 shots the Ray Gun contains. Otherwise, you're better off trying the Super Scope which has much higher knock back than the Ray Gun. Also keep in mind that, since it can shoot lasers, any character with a reflector technique can make the Ray Gun useless.
