[edit] Item Effect

The Pitfall is an item from the Animal Crossing series, it first appeared, in Super Smash Bros Brawl. If a pitfall is thrown and it hits the ground it will bury itself, activating when a character walks over it. If the pitfall was buried in solid ground the character will fall in the ground and be trapped for a period of time, or until they are knocked out by a powerful attack, however if the pitfall was in a fall through platform the character will just fall through the platform. If a pitfall is thrown and it hits another character it's effect will activate instantaneously, burying people standing on solid block, making characters fall through on pass through platforms and meteor smashing if it hits in the air.

[edit] Strategy

As the name of this item implies, the Pitfall is a hidden trap. Once the unsuspecting target steps on it, they will instantly become stuck in the ground where they were standing. You should place this item in an open location where no walls are between the victim and the edge of the stage. As soon as the victim becomes trapped, you should move in for a strong attack. Since the victim is trapped and defenseless, just aim your strongest attack right at their face and let it rip. This item is more useful against opponents who already have a high damage percentage so that your attack has a higher chance to KO them. You can even make use of someone else's Pitfall as the only one not able to fall into the trap is the person who actually threw it. Also keep in mind that even counter-strike moves like Lucario's Double Team will not protect you from falling into this trap.
