Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokemon from the Pokemon series, and is widely recognized enough to be considered the franchise's mascot. Pikachu is a Smash veteran, having appeared in all 3 Smash Bros. Games. Using his nimbleness, kicks, and various electric attacks, Pikachu is a very good character.

Super Smash Bros.

“Pikachu Mouse PKMN Height: 1’4” Weight: 13 Pounds When several of these Pokémon gather, their electricity could cause lightning storms. (Pokédex excerpt.) Pikachu is possibly the most agile character in the game. The little mouse also packs some punch with his thunder attack, which strikes opponents with lightning bolts.”

Super Smash Bros. Melee

The mascot for all Pokemon, this little yellow rat captured the world’s collective heart after featuring prominently in the Pokemon anime. His signature trait is his ability to discharge varying amounts of electricity from the little red pouches on his cheeks, shocking all those nearby. In Melee, he’s an odd little character; Quick, and with some unique moves, but not particularly balanced. He suffers from a lot of attack-delay, making him difficult to learn, but at the very least he does not lack power.

Role in SSE

Pikachu was being used as a power supply in the Subspace Bomb Factory. Samus releases Pikachu, and they team up in order to escape.

Multiplayer

Pros

  • Very Nimble
  • Great projectile
  • Awesome vertical and horizontal recovery
  • Thunder is great when they are above your head
  • Has very fast attacks
  • Disjointed hit boxes on a lot of moves
  • Thunder can be used as an edged guard move
  • Can charge up side B for horizontal recovery
  • Up B can recover in two different directions
  • Up B can be canceled out of into any other special, jump or aerial
  • Pikachu can "camp"
  • Can Chain Grab with D throw and F throw

Cons

  • Quite Light
  • Sub-par tilts
  • Up B does very little damage
  • Recovery can be bad if you don't aim it in two different directions
  • Thunder has major lag if missed (though this penalty was shaved in Brawl)
