[edit] Item Effect

The Motion-Sensor Bomb is an item that has found its way into all the installments of Super Smash Bros. In earlier games the description of what game the item came from was classified. This item has functioned the same in all three games, working, as the name implies, as a proximity explosive. They can be placed on a stage at any point, even walls, and left there. If an opponent (or even the player that threw it) approaches it, it will explode.

[edit] Strategy

Unlike other explosive items like the Blast Box and Bob-omb, the Motion Sensor Bomb should be treated like a booby trap. You should use it like you would use Snake's down special. Place it in an area that's difficult for others to see it and just keep away from it. A common strategy is to grab someone and throw them into the Motion-Sensor Bomb so they have no way to defend themselves. This is especially useful on stages with multiple platforms like Battlefield from Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, or Planet Zebes from Super Smash Bros.. This is risky though since you will leave yourself open to attacks from your blind side should you just wait for someone to come by. It's best to just grab someone quickly and hurl them into the Bomb. Although it can backfire, it's also not a bad idea to throw a Motion-Sensor Bomb onto the side of the stage right next to a ledge so people will just be blown to bits as they try and grab the ledge in their recovery attempt. However, this can easily backfire if you're the one needing to grab the ledge so be wary of that. Like most explosives, if you are in the vicinity of the area when someone steps on the Motion-Sensor Bomb, then needless to say, you will get blasted as well. Treat it with caution, but try and make someone step on it so you don't have to worry about it later.
