 Item Effect
The Maxim Tomato is an item from the Kirby series, and has been in every installment of the Super Smash Bros Series so far. In the original Super Smash Bros the maximum tomato would restore 100% on the their damage meter when the player picked it up. However in later installments it would only restore 50%
- In Super Smash Bros., the Maxim Tomato would remove 100% from a character's percent.
- In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and all subsequent games, the Maxim Tomato would remove 50% from a character's percent.
Since it restores health, everyone is likely to go after it immediately after seeing it. It will take some luck to get to the Maximum Tomato as countless attacks will be launched by everyone to clear a path for themselves. This can create for some major chaos as KOs are likely when everyone converges on a single area. It's ironic that this item helps those with high damage, but because everyone is trying to move people out of the way, those with high damage are also at the highest risk of being KOed in the fights for this item. One important thing that's different about the Maximum Tomato and the Heart Container is that the Maximum Tomato does not float to the ground like the Heart Container does. Other than that, the strategies that work for getting to the Heart Container will help here as well. If you feel that it isn't worth the risk of being KOed just to get the Maximum Tomato, then don't go after it. Explosive items are useful for clearing paths to the Maximum Tomato. This includes those with explosive attacks like Snake and Samus.
